Arik Air has confirmed that its flight W3 740 from Lagos to Port Harcourt was diverted to the Benin Airport as a precautionary step after an unusual noise was detected from the aircraft’s left engine.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos by Mr. Adebanji Ola, Public Relations and Communications Manager of Arik Air.

According to the airline, all 80 passengers onboard disembarked safely.
“There were no injuries recorded.
“The operating crew of the Boeing 737-700 (5N-MJF) aircraft heard a loud sound from the left engine while descending to land in Port Harcourt.
“Arrangements have been concluded to convey the affected passengers to their final destinations.
“The airline sincerely apologises to passengers for the disruption to their travel plans. The safety and well-being of our passengers remain our top priority,” the statement read.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that further details regarding the exact cause of the diversion have yet to be made public. (Text, excluding headline: NAN)
