Concerned Mopamuro Indigenes Stage Protest, Declare “Community Not for Sale”
A group of concerned indigenes of Mopamuro on Saturday staged a peaceful protest, expressing strong opposition to what they described as attempts to compromise the interests and future of their community.
The protest message, which surfaced on a Facebook page known as Gist Palace, carried the bold declaration: “Mopamuro is not for sale to the highest bidder.”
In the statement, the group accused unnamed individuals of pursuing selfish ambitions at the expense of the community, insisting that Mopamuro cannot be traded for personal gain regardless of pressure or financial inducement.
They questioned the track record of those allegedly behind the moves, asking them to identify tangible projects or meaningful contributions made to the development of the area.
“What legacy project can they point to in Mopamuro? Empty promises cannot replace visible results,” the statement read.
The protesters maintained that they remain resolute in defending the interests of their people, describing the situation as a defining moment for the community. They also vowed not to be swayed by incentives or political influence.
“Our values are not for sale, and our future is not negotiable,” the group declared, adding that the struggle to protect Mopamuro’s integrity would continue.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from local authorities or individuals alleged to be connected to the claims.
