Cult acivities: Police nabs cultists recover firearms in Nasarawa

In a determined efforts to rid Nasarawa state of criminal activities, cults engagement, the Nasarawa State Police Command Tuesday apprehended suspected cultist and recovered a firearm in Lafia, the state capital.
The arrest of the cultists according to a statement by the state public Relations Officer of the nasarawa command, SP Ranham Nansel followed a routine patrol by operatives of Ombi 1 on July 8, 2025, at about 0010hrs.
According to the statement, the cultists on sitting the police operational vehicle behind the A.A Rano Gas Plant in Lafia took to their heels in an attempt to escape.
“Operatives from Ombi 1 Division intercepted three young men dressed in red clothing, a common symbol associated with cult activities
Upon sighting the police patrol team.
“They suspects took to their heels. The officers gave chase and successfully apprehended one of the suspects, Hassan Isah Sidi ‘m’ 38 yrs of Millionaires Quarters, Lafia.
“A thorough search of the suspect led to the recovery of one English-made pistol and criminal charms believed to be used for unlawful activities. Efforts are currently ongoing to track down and arrest the two fleeing suspects”, the statement added. .
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed have commended the patrol team for their vigilance and swift response.
The commissioner who reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of cultism and related crimes, urged the citizens to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
