Eid-ul-Maulud: Embrace Justice, Ease Citizens’ Burden, Foster Unity — Ex-NOA DG Omeri Charges Govt, Nigerians
By David Odama
Former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Agbo Omeri, has urged governments at all levels, political leaders, and Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-ul-Maulud to embrace unity, implement people-centered policies, and ease the burdens of citizens.
Dr. Omeri, a senatorial aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, gave the charge on Friday in a congratulatory message to Muslim faithful as they marked this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud.
He called on leaders to uphold the dignity of every Nigerian, shun corruption, tackle insecurity, and improve the welfare and basic needs of the people. According to him, integrity and fairness must guide national leadership if Nigeria is to achieve peace and sustainable development.
Omeri further noted that Eid-ul-Maulud provides an opportunity for reflection on the virtues of humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“We are reminded that Nigeria stands today at a critical crossroad. The challenges of governance, economic hardship, and the yearning for credible leadership demand a renewed commitment to fairness, accountability, and compassion,” he stated.
Extending his warm wishes to Muslims across the country, Dr. Omeri said: “On behalf of myself and fellow Nigerians, especially my constituents, I extend greetings for a peaceful and joyous celebration. May this Eid-ul-Maulud inspire stronger interfaith unity, renew our collective hope for Nigeria, and encourage us all to work together for a just and prosperous year ahead.”
He urged Muslims and Nigerians in general to pray for the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and world leaders — particularly those battling political, economic, religious, and social crises.
Omeri reminded Muslims of the power of prayer, stressing that supplications can change situations. He prayed for divine intervention across Nigeria and the world to reduce needless crises.
The former NOA boss enjoined Muslims to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country and globally.
