FCT : FRSC Moves To Ensure Hitch Free Election

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC is to certify all the vehicles engaged by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the transportation of election materials and personnel to be deployed for the conduct of this Saturday FCT Area Council Election .

The FCT FRSC Sector Commander Mr Felix Theman while addressing newsmen in Abuja said the Corps involvement was to ensure that all the vehicles provided by the transport unions meet minimum standard.

According to the sector Commander, the step will ensure that non of the vehicles break down and cause obstruction which can lead to delay in early commencement of the election.

Mr Theman also said all the Nineteen FRSC Unit Commanders and Zebra Points leaders across the Six Area Councils have been directed to make adequate deployment and be ready for any emergency situation.

He said tow trucks, patrol vehicles and other logistics have been mobilized for prompt removal of obstructions.

He stressed that all officers and men would also be strategically deployed to enforce movement restriction as directed by the FCT Police Commissioner on the election day while others will complement security agencies to ensure orderliness at the polling booths.

According to the FRSC Sector Commander, FRSC personnel have received adequate training alongside other security agencies to maintain law and order during the election.

He assured that FRSC would not shy away from its responsibility in exhibiting professionalism towards ensuring that election materials were not diverted to unauthorized places by criminal elements .

Mr Theman however advised residents to abide with the movement restriction order as the Corps would enforce full compliance.
