FCT Minister Tours Court Projects, Assures Magistrates of New Courtrooms by June
By Urube Peter, Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has inspected ongoing construction of new FCT Magistrate Courts across the capital city. After carrying out a series of road inspections, Wike visited project sites in Asokoro, Jabi, and Garki on Friday, February 13, 2026, expressing satisfaction with the steady pace of work.
At the Asokoro location, the Minister observed that construction was advancing smoothly despite the challenging terrain. The Jabi Magistrate Court project, which was flagged off in December 2025, is progressing as scheduled, while the Garki Magistrate Court is slated for completion and handover by June.
Speaking with journalists, Wike explained that the expansion of judicial facilities is in line with a presidential directive aimed at providing the FCT judiciary with sufficient space to effectively administer justice. “The judicial arm of government plays a vital role in ensuring that citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he stated.
He further clarified that the focus of the Federal Capital Territory Administration on strengthening the judiciary forms part of a broader and balanced development plan, which also includes improvements in road infrastructure, education, and healthcare. “Our objective is straightforward — to deliver additional courtrooms and suitable accommodation across the board,” Wike added.
