From JSS3 to University: Nigerian Man Skips Senior Secondary School, Graduates from UI

A Nigerian man has gone viral after narrating how he gained admission into the University of Ibadan despite not completing senior secondary school.

He shared a step-by-step account of his journey, revealing that he stopped at JSS3 and couldn’t further his education due to certain challenges.

Determined not to give up, he enrolled in a tutorial center, even though his knowledge at the time was limited to just reading and writing.

At the tutorial, he struggled to grasp basic concepts and later faced financial difficulties, unable to pay his fees. The owner of the tutorial, identified as Mr. Donald, offered him an unusual deal: to wash toilets and fetch water in exchange for tuition. He accepted the offer and continued learning.

Despite more setbacks, including being unable to afford exam registration, Mr. Donald stepped in again—this time paying for his WAEC. A few days before JAMB registration closed, someone else unexpectedly gifted him the money he needed.

With determination and support, he scored 253 in UTME, passed his WAEC with good grades, and excelled in UI’s Post-UTME, scoring 76/100. He was subsequently offered admission to study Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Ibadan.

Years later, he proudly announced that he is now a graduate of Nutrition and Dietetics from UI.

Sharing his story on X (formerly Twitter) @Mirakull001, he wrote:

> “From JSS3 straight to the University of Ibadan. After JSS3, I couldn’t continue schooling due to some issues. On September 17, 2018, I enrolled in a tutorial. I was so poor academically I didn’t even know the first 20 elements or how to add fractions. The only thing I could do was read and write.”

> “The first two months were tough. By the third month, I couldn’t afford the fees anymore, but Mr. Donald, the owner of the tutorial, offered me the chance to work—washing toilets and fetching water—in place of payment. Later, he even paid my WAEC fees when I had no money. Three days to JAMB deadline, someone else gave me money to register.”
