FRSC Adopt New Campaign Strategy to Check road crashes

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC is to commence a nationwide film-based advocacy campaign targeting young Nigerians in a renewed effort to combat the high rate of road traffic crashes.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed who stated this while addressing news men in Abuja said the Corps was highly concern as over One Million youths all over the world died annually in road accidents.

He said FRSC was to launch a campaign known as “Drive Right, Drive Smart; Road Safety Film Festival” to harness the influence of entertainment and digital media in promoting safer road habits.

According to the FRSC Boss, the campaign is also aims to re-orient young road users through storytelling, visual content, and celebrity engagement in line with Nigeria’s commitment to the United Nations target of reducing road crashes by 50 per cent.

“The film festival will encourage youth-led content creation, offer prizes for outstanding entries, and dramatize real-life road scenarios to promote compliance with traffic rules”

Mallam Shehu Mohammed therefore called on filmmakers, skit makers, content creators, and media influencers to collaborate with the FRSC in pushing the message of safer roads across Nigeria.

Speaking, the President” “I am the future of Nigeria” IFON Nonni Okocha appealed to young Nigerians to join a national movement aimed at using creativity and digital storytelling to address the growing threat of road traffic crashes in the country.

She described the partnership with FRSC as a significant milestone in using creative tools to transform road safety education into life-saving action, especially with the growing influence of the internet and digital content.

The IFON president emphasised that road safety was a collective responsibility, and called on government agencies, schools, communities, media and celebrities to support the initiative.

Also, President Actor Guild Of Nigeria Dr Emeka Rollas pledged full support to the FRSC and the I Am the Future of Nigeria initiative to use storytelling and film as powerful tools to enhance road safety awareness across the country.

He called on members of the entertainment industry to use their platforms to amplify the road safety message and mentor emerging talents participating in the initiative
