GIF praises president Tinubu, Kalu, other lawmakers for signing into law SEDC Bill

Greater Igbo Forum Worldwide, a nongovernmental organisation had applauded the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for signing a Bill to establish the South East Development Commission, SEDC into law.

The group’s president Ambassador Lois Jonathan also congratulates the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and other federal lawmakers who. O+sponsored the Bill for their efforts in ensuring that the Bill was passed by the National Assembly.

The statement reads in parts:

“We also congratulate other South East House of Representatives Members as well as Senators who co-sponsored the Bill for its passage into law.

“We thank the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for assenting to this landmark legislation.

*The establishment of the Commission shows President Tinubu’s commitment to an inclusive development of the South East.

“It shows genuine commitment towards addressing not only the insecurity in the region, but also the infrastructural decay which had hitherto plagued the region.

“We appreciate President Tinubu for showing again his commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria where no region is left behind.

“We laud the Deputy Speaker for his exemplary leadership and commitment towards the development of the South East.

This was first manifested in the launch and implementation of the Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P) and now the enactment of the law establishing a Commission charged with overseeing the holistic growth and development of the region.

“We also express appreciation to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon.
Tajudeen Abbas and members of the National Assembly for their support, which significantly contributed to its success.

“We applaud this significant milestone in the journey towards ensuring a fair and equitable society to Nigerians.”
