Against the backdrop of crises affecting different parts of the world, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has called on Nigerians to demonstrate stronger nationalism by supporting the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government.
Barau made the call while fielding questions from journalists at the National Eid Ground in Abuja on Friday after observing two units (Rakat) of prayers led by Professor Illiasu Usman from the National Mosque.

He said that collective support for the Federal Government would accelerate the country’s journey toward prosperity under President Tinubu’s leadership.
He cited the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and parts of Europe, noting their far-reaching implications on other countries, as reasons Nigerians must unite in support of their government to effectively navigate the global challenges.
“What we need at this time is to continue supporting Mr President, all of us, and to continue praying for him so that he can succeed in his efforts to bring prosperity to our nation.
“We are facing global problems that are all over the world. We can see what is happening in the Middle East and other parts of the world.
“The world is full of challenges, and we are not an exception. So what we need at this period is to continue to support the President and pray for our nation, because we know, all of us who are working with him (Mr President), that he is determined to bring prosperity to our nation,” he said.
Barau, shortly after the prayers, congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. He prayed for unity in the country and for wisdom for President Tinubu and other leaders in steering the affairs of the nation toward prosperity.
“At the end of the prayers, I felicitated with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON; other leaders, and indeed all Ummah, on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
“May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala help our country, unite our country, and help Mr President in his efforts to reform the country for the better and to bring prosperity to our nation,” he added.
In his remarks after the prayers, Imam Illiasu Usman charged Nigerian leaders at all levels to bring an end to insecurity in the country.
According to him, Nigeria has the resources and capacity to decisively tackle troublemakers and enemies of peace.
“Since genuine development cannot take place in any insecure or violence-ridden society, governments at all levels in Nigeria should intensify their efforts against bloodthirsty criminals in our midst,” he said.
