Ifeanyi Ogbonna’s Leadership Powering APC Expansion in Arochukwu, Ohafia — Abia Patriotic Frontiers
By our Correspondent
The Abia Patriotic Frontiers (APF), a notable socio-political organization, has commended the leadership and political influence of All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Ignes,” describing him as the driving force behind the party’s growing membership in Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas of Abia State.
In a statement signed by the group’s State Coordinator, Dr. Ikenna Ukaegbu, and released to journalists in Enugu on Wednesday, the APF praised Ogbonna’s grassroots mobilization efforts, noting that his dynamic and youth-focused leadership style has revitalized the APC’s base across Abia North.
Dr. Ukaegbu, who spoke to newsmen after attending a political rally in Enugu to celebrate the defection of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, described the development as “a clear signal that Enugu and the entire South East are aligning toward a common path for progress and development.”
He applauded Governor Mbah’s move as “bold and courageous,” emphasizing that the PDP had failed to make meaningful impact in Enugu and the South East region despite its 16 years at the federal level.
Turning to Abia State, currently governed by the Labour Party, Dr. Ukaegbu expressed optimism that the APC would secure victory in 2027, citing the party’s ongoing reconciliation efforts and intensified grassroots mobilization. He noted that the party’s growing strength in Arochukwu and Ohafia Federal Constituency is largely due to the commitment and influence of Ifeanyi Ogbonna, who continues to attract massive defections from rival parties.
“Ogbonna is a youth and an effective grassroots mobilizer,” he said. “You cannot discuss party politics or national development without recognizing the role of young people. His presence in the APC has brought renewed energy and credibility, making the party more attractive to new members.”
According to the APF, the APC has recorded significant membership gains from both the Labour Party and the PDP across multiple wards in Arochukwu and Ohafia, including Arochukwu 1 and 2, Eleoha, Ihechiowa, Ohafor 1 and 2, Ututu, Ovukwu, Isu, Ikwun, Ohaeke, Agborji, Abiriba, Ebem Ohafia, Nkporo, Okanu Ohafia, Elu Nkporo, Etiti Nkporo, Okanu, and Isiama.
“Over 80% of these new members attributed their decision to join the APC to the influence of Ifeanyi Ogbonna,” Ukaegbu added, expressing confidence that their entry would strengthen the ruling party’s structure ahead of future elections.
Dr. Ukaegbu, a former House of Representatives aspirant, further described Ogbonna as “a visionary leader with competence and political maturity,” whose leadership has succeeded in uniting both old and emerging politicians under a shared vision.
“When leaders rally behind one vision, delivering tangible progress to the people becomes achievable,” he remarked.
The APF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting leaders like Ifeanyi Ogbonna, whose mentorship and people-driven leadership are transforming the fortunes of the APC in Abia North as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
