I’m working hard so that when my husband’s tenure ends, I too can walk safely – Remi Tinubu
According to a report by The Sun on Friday, October 3, 2025, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said her dedication to public service is driven by her vision of a nation where people can move about freely without fear.
Mrs. Tinubu made this disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Akko’s palace in Gombe State. She was in the state to officially commission the newly built Federal Medical Centre in Kumo.
At 65, the First Lady reflected on her hope for a long life and explained the motivation behind her intense work schedule. She stated that her efforts are directed at ensuring she can move around the country safely once her husband’s presidential tenure comes to an end.
Her remarks underscore her personal stake in Nigeria’s security and stability, suggesting that the initiatives she champions are designed to bring lasting improvements that will serve all citizens, herself included.
In her words: “I’m 65 years old now, I pray I live long. But I’m working so hard so that when my husband finishes his tenure, I can also walk around safely.”
Her candid comment sheds light on the personal motivation behind her active involvement in national development and social welfare programs.
