Justice for Mahmood Yakubu
By Dr jarlat Uche opara
Arise Nigerians, let our voices come together, beyond tribes, religion and culture, for the finest, the most diligent, and integrity driven INEC Chairman. He came, he saw without doubt brought credibility with zero glitches to our electoral system.
Justice for the man who through free and fair 2023 elections etched his name on the sand of time.
Brought hope to the lost glory of our elections. Made votes to count and stopped on the track the manipulations of the Supreme Court, one too difficult to happen again. On the platform of creditablity the Tinubu administration won election fair and square. Very skilled and seasoned in his craft, built confidence in the minds of the electorates who never believed that elections in Nigeria would be without violence, ballot boxes snatching and mutilation of figures.
What was his offence? What did he do to have stired the hornets nest? Making the fury of the one who mounted on his wings to win election two years ago fly off thehandle.
What was Yakubu’ offence?Who forced him to resign? He was fair and square. He knew his job prescriptions and discharged them with precision.
Nigerians! Let us stand for him, let us occupy through a peaceful protest, asking just one question, what was the offence of Mahmood Yakubu, the finest, zero corruption and highly skilled INEC Chairman?
To the new INEC chairman Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan look at how Prof.Yakubu exited, the wood he was carved from , what does it show you? Life is transient and no situation is permanent. Listen to his farewell songs rendered by his staff, is that the song you would want ? His acts and activities for ten years remain a case study.
Would you want to be remembered the way he is being remembered? He rode on the back of a tiger, bringing preys and feeding them to the hungry stomach of the Tiger. He knew not that one day it would be its flesh the empty belly of the Tiger would crave for.
Yakubu made a name for himself. You probably must have heard it from the mouth of the poor electorates. The stage is yours, the curtain drawn open, your time starts now and the impression you would make determines what name you would be given when your time is up and the curtain of your stage drawn.
Goodluck! The path you would ply on, very slippery. Caution is of essence and posterity waiting to weave your name in the tapestry of corruption or integrity. The choice is yours.
To your ears alone I whisper this. Mr President is a strategic man. He uses when blossoming, sucks dry and discards when use and needs are overly less too. He is a master user of claws to get nuts from the furnace and leaves one in pains with blistered hands. Yakubu hands may be blistered, how painful, only him knows.
