Nasarawa Journalists Set for Statewide Thanksgiving Service
By David Odama
Journalists in Nasarawa State will, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, gather at the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) Gloryland, Shendam Road, Lafia, for a special thanksgiving service.
The event, organized by media practitioners worshiping at ERCC Gloryland Lafia in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, is dedicated to offering praises to God for His mercies and faithfulness in sustaining journalists in the state over the years.
Ahead of the programme, Chairman of the NUJ in Nasarawa State, Comrade Salihu Alkali, urged all journalists and media workers to turn out in large numbers, emphasizing the need for collective appreciation to God for preserving their lives despite the risks associated with the profession.
“Journalism is a noble calling, but it comes with hazards such as harassment, intimidation, accidents while on duty, and health challenges arising from the stress of the job. Despite these, God has kept us, and it is only fitting that we come together to return thanks to Him,” Comrade Alkali said.
He further appealed to the public to continue praying for journalists, stressing that the media plays a critical role in informing, educating, and shaping society for the benefit of all citizens.
The thanksgiving service is expected to attract media professionals, stakeholders, families, and friends of journalists across the state. The programme will commence at 7:30 a.m.
