Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have successfully rescued a woman who was abducted in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, following a prompt, intelligence-driven operation.

The rescue mission was carried out on December 13 under Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) at Torikegha Village in Chanchanji Ward. Military sources said the troops acted on reliable intelligence received at their Kufai Amadu base regarding the abduction of a woman in the area.

Upon reaching the community, the soldiers confirmed that the victim, identified as Mrs. Iloda Ayinba, had been kidnapped while on her way to her farm. The abductors were suspected to be criminal elements believed to be herdsmen relocating from the area.

The troops immediately commenced a search-and-rescue operation, tracking the kidnappers along their suspected escape routes through the surrounding terrain, including the power line corridor linking Benue and Taraba states. As pressure mounted from the advancing soldiers, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned the woman in the bush and fled.

Mrs. Ayinba was rescued without any injuries and was later handed over to community leaders. Residents of the area expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the swift and timely intervention.
