NUJ FCT Council Mourns Seven Journalists Killed in Gombe Road Accident

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council has expressed deep sorrow over the death of seven journalists from the Gombe State Council who were killed in a road accident while returning from an official assignment.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, the Chairman of NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, described the incident as a devastating loss to the journalism profession, noting that the deceased were committed professionals who died in active service to society.
“The NUJ FCT Council received with profound shock and deepest sorrow the heartbreaking news of the untimely death of six gallant journalists in a ghastly motor accident,” Ike stated. “These dedicated professionals, who lost their lives while in the line of duty, were shining beacons of truth, courage, and commitment to the noble profession of journalism.”
She extended condolences to the grieving families, the NUJ Gombe State Council, and the entire NUJ community nationwide, adding that the union stands in solidarity with all those affected by the tragedy.
“Their departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our ranks, but their legacy of fearless reporting and unwavering service to humanity will endure forever. We pray for God’s comfort and strength upon the families, colleagues, and all affected,” the statement added.
The NUJ FCT Council reaffirmed its fraternal support to the Gombe State Council during the period of mourning, praying for the repose of the souls of the departed journalists.
