ODA National Condemns Heinous Attacks on Innocent Citizens of Orokam District
The President of the Orokam Development Association (ODA) National, Elder Michael Ogwuche Akor, has strongly condemned the recent attacks on innocent citizens of Orokam District in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, where many residents were reportedly kidnapped, injured, and killed by criminal elements. He described the incident as a heinous crime.
In a statement issued by Elder Michael Ogwuche Akor, the ODA President expressed deep pain and shock over the continuous abductions of peace-loving residents of Orokam from their homes, often at odd hours, without restraint. He said the recurring incidents have sadly exposed the inability of security operatives in the district to curb the menace.
Calling on the government to live up to its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and property, as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the ODA leadership urged traditional rulers in Orokam to remain just, united, and resolute in defending their people. As custodians of culture and tradition, he noted, they must ensure that Aroji remains a safe and habitable land for their subjects.
Elder Akor assured the people that ODA National is working closely with government authorities, security agencies, traditional rulers, political leaders, religious institutions, stakeholders, and various groups to track down the perpetrators and restore peace to Orokam.
He expressed sadness over the spate of criminality but vowed that ODA National would not relent until the culprits are brought to justice. He also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious faces or movements to the appropriate authorities.
The association further appreciated the resilience and unwavering support of district leaders and organizations, including Okam Forum Abuja, Aroji Welfare Association, and other ODA branches. Elder Akor prayed for divine blessings upon them for their steadfastness in supporting Orokam’s survival and progress.
As part of urgent measures, ODA National announced plans to convene a security summit to address the escalating challenges in the community.
On behalf of Orokam people worldwide, Elder Akor sympathized with families of those kidnapped and injured during the attacks, praying for their safe return and speedy recovery. He also condoled with families who lost loved ones, assuring them that all Arojians share in their grief, and prayed for the souls of the departed to find eternal rest.
