The Vice President of the Mothers’ Union of Saint Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama, Mrs. Ayedime Okoriko, has called on mothers not to allow the current situation in the country to affect the upbringing of their children.

Speaking during this year’s Mothering Sunday, Mrs. Okoriko stated that the increasing moral decadence in society is a result of women not fulfilling their responsibilities at home.

She urged mothers to wake up to their duties and nurture their children with the word of God so there will be peace in the society.

In a sermon, the guest preacher, Mrs. Faith Atere, appealed to parents to be good role models for their children.

The Chairperson of the 2025 Mothering Sunday Committee, Mrs. Winnie Atawodi emphasized the need for mothers to engage in ventures to be financially independent so as to contribute meaningfully in their families.

She stressed that through support, love, and respect for their husbands, homes will experience transformation and peace.

The service featured special songs from the children and youth choirs, as well as prayers for peace in all homes.
