PDP Lawmaker, Sa’adu defects to APC in Nasarawa, cites party internal wranglings as factor for defection

Member representing Umaisha/Ugya Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the State Assembly who announced this while reading Hon. Sa’ad defection letter during the House Proceedings today in Lafia, appreciated Hon. Sa’ad for taking the bold steps in joining the APC in the State.

” Hon Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, our colleague has decided to join the winning team in Nasarawa State, APC. Hon Sa’ad said that he is not longer comfortable with the PDP, that he is more comfortable with APC in the state” he said.

The Speaker assured Hon Sa’ad of equal rights and privileges in the State.

The Speaker reads the lawmaker’s letter which cited internal crisis in his former party PDP, Governor Sule’s achievements and leadership styles as well as the desire to provide more democratic dividends for his people as some of the reasons.

“I intend to join APC in Umaisha ward after due consultations with my constituents, community leaders, and supporters.
And my desire to join APC is also rooted in my high desire to provide more democratic dividends for my people”

“The internal crisis in PDP and growing factions as the party in Nasarawa State is having serious challenges and legal battles that is now at Appeal Court in Makurdi, is no longer giving comfort in the party”

“I am also inspired by the achievements of Gov. Abdullahi Sule in the State, His leadership style, peace building and people’s oriented programs also attracted me to the APC” the letter reads in part.

On his part, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad while speaking with Newsmen said that he decided to join APC due to developmental strides of Gov. Abdullahi Sule in the State.

” I left PDP due to its internal wrangling which has reached Appeal Court Makurdi. I have joined APC to add value to the development of my people, the party and the state at large” he said.

The former PadP lawmaker who said that he defected to APC was after due consultation with stakeholders, political allies and the people of his constituency, assured the people of his constituency of continued quality leadership.

” By God’s grace, I will continue to provide my constituents with quality leadership to enable them enjoy more of democratic dividends” he said.

Hon Sa’ad called on the people of his constituency to remain calm and patient while assuring of more democratic dividends.

Also speaking, Mr Yarus Dagusa, the State APC Secretary commended Hon Sa’ad for taking the bold steps in joining the ruling party. assuring him of level playing ground in the party.
