The Senate Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement reassuring members and the public that despite ongoing internal disputes, the party remains strong and poised to emerge even stronger.

Addressing concerns over the party’s stability, the caucus led by the Senate Minority leader Senator Abba Moro emphasized that the conflicts within the PDP are not unique, pointing out that other major political parties—including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP)—also face similar challenges.

The caucus urged all PDP members to remain committed, dedicated, and loyal to the party, expressing confidence that the leadership’s planned activities will revitalize the party and enhance its competitiveness in future elections.

According to him, the importance of a healthy democracy is a robust opposition is essential to keep the ruling party in check and ensure good governance. It cautioned against celebrating the weakening of opposition parties or moving towards a one-party state, warning such trends undermine democratic progress.

On the topic of coalition politics, the caucus stated its openness to the idea, provided that coalition efforts are driven by political parties rather than individuals. As the largest opposition party, the PDP maintains that its platform is broad enough to accommodate coalition partners, and that the party should lead any future coalition initiatives.
