The Senator
representing Plateau North, Pam Mwadkon, has officially defected from the African Democratic Party (ADP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced on Thursday through a letter addressed to the Senate and read at plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

In the letter, Senator Mwadkon explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with his consultants, political associates, and other stakeholders. He said the move was informed by the need to align with a political platform that best reflects his commitment to good governance, inclusive development, and the overall interests of the people of his senatorial district.
According to him, the decision to leave the ADP was also necessitated by irreconcilable differences and persistent internal crises within the party, which he said had hindered his ability to effectively contribute to its ideals and to provide quality representation for his constituents.
Senator Mwadkon expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress offers a more stable and progressive platform through which he can continue to serve his constituents and the nation with renewed focus and dedication.
He therefore urged the Senate to accept his letter as formal notification of his defection in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while also requesting admission into the APC.
After the letter was read, Senate President Godswill Akpabio mocked opposition parties, remarking that many of those still outside the APC were already eyeing the ruling party and only waiting for the right time to join.
