Ramadan: Rep jaji distributes 60 trucks of food palliatives, cash to Zamfara citizens
Member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji yesterday distributed 60 trucks of assorted bags of rice, sugar, and other foodstuffs as well as cash donations to over 500,000 across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.
The gesture which cut across party lines is an annual tradition by the lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Ecological funds. The intent is aimed at ameliorating the economic hardship being experienced by the people and providing succour to the people, especially during this Holy Month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the flag off of the distribution in Gusau, the Lawmaker noted that the committee saddled with the responsibilities of the distribution ensured inclusivity, as beneficiaries were selected irrespective of political or ethnic considerations.
He noted that the large chunk of the beneficiaries were mostly the ophans, people with disabilities, widows and the less privileged in the society, adding that, a cash donations and clothes were also distributed to enable them celebrate during sallah festivity.
“As Muslims, we were taught to be kind to one another, especially during this Holy Month of Ramadan, that is why we decided yo come up with this initiative in order to support the orphans, widows and the less privileged in the society especially at this critical time and in the Holy Month of Ramadan where Allah’s blessing are in abundance.
“We have been doing this for over seven years and we are not relenting, we will continue to do even more as the Prophet Muhammad (s a w), said who ever gives out charity especially during this holy month will definately see reward in abundance.
Rep Jaji called on the beneficiaries to also reach out to others with a portion in the spirit of Ramadan and urged them to rededicate themselves to prayers and seek Allah’s intervention, particularly in the area of insecurity that is bedeviling the state and the nation at large.
