Dr Aliyu Ibrahim, MFR, National Convener, NATIONAL AGENDA FOR TINUBU 2027 { NAFT.27} _ the Pioneer Intellectual Think-Tank Platform, canvassing for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, has made further passionate appeal to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to re-name the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, after the deceased two-time Head of State, Major General Muhammadu Buhari,GCFR, who suddenly passed on to the Ethereal Realm, last Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London Hospital.
Dr Aliyu Ibrahim, MFR, a frontline member of the All Progressives Congress, a political scientist, public affairs commentatorand political analyst, made the call in a media interview with journalists in Abuja Friday.
It would be recalled that Dr Aliyu Ibrahim, MFR, had on July 13, 2025, in a widely publicized interview in Daura, Katsina State, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to humbly honour the late former Nigerian Armoured Corps General and two – time Head of State, by listing his name after any of the nation’s critical assets,to which His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, responded when he announced a name-change of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State to Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri .
According to Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim, MFR, who described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the most strategic political leadership figure and strongest President in the 54-member structured African continent, ” extending this great honour to the Daura born one-time Army General, transformed democrat, who contested for the Presidency of Nigeria, thrice, lost the bid but later succeeded by the divine mercy of the Almighty ALLAH SWT, the Most High GOD, through the singular instrumentality of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, apart from, being a memorable but continual source of hand shake across the Nigeria, would help deepen the bond of unity between the North and South of Nigeria, sustaining unity, peace and faith in one Nigeria “.
As a tie-back to the historical speech processes by the Nigerian leader, at a special Federal Executive Council session, which took place at the STATE HOUSE Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, on July 17th, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in his memorabilia, at the rather solemn and emotionally laden event, choose to describe his late friend, senior brother and former boss a way, that painted a positive picture.
President Tinubu, GCFR , stated, thus, “”Late President, Commander In Chief, of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Buhari was a man of integrity, discipline, and deep patriotism””.
He continued, “President Buhari, GCFR, was not a perfect man. Mo leader is perfect. But he was, in every sense of the word, a good man, a decent man, an honourable man,””.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, went a step further is his Ode, to eulogize late Buhari’s legacy of “” moral uprightness and dedication to public service”” , saying the late leader, was ingrained with “”quiet strength and simplicity, resisting the temptations of power and popularity””.
Speaking with touch of a Theatre and Dramatic Arts University teacher, speaking extempore to his esteemed audience, President Tinubu, espoused the following words, “his patriotism, was lived more in action than in words,” and vividly brought back to memory, the great experiences of political interests aggregation, he shared with late octogenarian soldier, in furthering contacts within their numerous
political alliances, particularly, their joint efforts towards terminating, what he described as , “” the long rule of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015, which led to Nigeria’s first peaceful transfer of power between parties””.
President Tinubu, recalled, “We stood together, he and I “. “” when he was sworn in, he led with restraint and governed with dignity””.
Much more enthralling for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in remembering the rich experiences as lasting impressions, in the life and times of late General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, when he remarked, “” Late President Buhari’s humility after leaving office, and returned to Daura without attempting to exert influence from behind the scenes”, was uncommon and exemplary””.
Of striking significance about the life style traits of late President Muhammadu Buhari, was that , “”even in death, President Buhari, maintained the serenity that defined him in life””.
For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR , the swift response to the social , cultural and institutional stimuli, displayed by members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, assigned with the official responsibility of conveying the remains of the deceased former Head of State to Nigeria as well as the role played by the Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, in promptly organising the State burial for General Muhammadu Buhari,GCFR, within a brief time-span of 48 hours, including his role as leading the funeral procession in Daura, was a profound honour “”.
In President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ s concluding remarks, which were couched with an admixture of light, harmless humour and reality principle about a onetime political leadership , he once shaped and personally defined his political career from loss of faith to hopefulness, transforming to the status of writing his name amongst world leaders, after all known attempts had failed , resulting in tears, rolling down his checks, while aliive, the apostle of the RENEWED HOPE AGENDA, said, “”Mai Gaskiya, the People’s General, the Farmer President, Your Duty Is Fone””. “”May the Almighty Allah SWT, Forgive Your Shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.“May his life continue to inspire generations of Nigerians to serve with courage, conviction, and selflessness. President Buhari, thank you. Nigeria will remember you.””.
