Sallah : CAN Rejoices With Muslims, Condemn Edo Killings
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr while condemning the recent killings of sixteen hunters in Uromi, Edo State.
CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, in a statement, described Ramadan as a deep spiritual re-awakening emphasizing shared values between Christians and Muslims in the areas of prayer, fasting and charity.
Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, however, condemned the recent killing of hunters in Uromi who were travelling from Port Harcourt to Kano for Sallah celebration.

According to him, the act is a grave violation of human rights calling for thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
He stressed the need for stronger enforcement to prevent further occurrence.
“We cannot ignore the pressing challenges confronting our nation. Security threats, such as rampant kidnappings and violence, cast a shadow over our communities. Economic difficulties, including soaring inflation and widespread unemployment, place immense burdens on countless families. Social unrest, fuelled by these and other grievances, continues to test our resilience”.
The Christian Cleric however extended his sincere condolences to the families
Of the hunters.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of these hunters, who now mourn the loss of their loved ones taken in such a senseless and brutal manner. Our thoughts are also with all families affected by recent acts of violence and injustice across Nigeria”.
“There is urgent need for effective law enforcement and the upholding of the rule of law. The government must act decisively to address these failures and ensure justice is served”.
Most Reverend Okoh stressed the need for all Nigerians to practise charity, support those in need, and stand together against violence and division.
He reaffirmed CAN’s commitment to dialogue and cooperation with Muslim leaders, fostering interfaith initiatives to build a stronger nation.
