Emmanuel C. Nwachukwu, who represents Anambra South Senatorial District, has urged his constituents to observe the Lenten season with sincere reflection, repentance, and a renewed dedication to God and humanity.
In a message released to mark Ash Wednesday, the Senator described Lent as a holy period set aside for spiritual introspection and renewal among Christians.

He explained that the imposition of ashes symbolizes human mortality and underscores mankind’s complete reliance on God’s mercy and grace.
“The sign of ashes is an age-old reminder of our mortality, the fleeting nature of life, and our total dependence on God’s mercy and grace,” Senator Nwachukwu said. “It is a solemn invitation to return to Him with humility, repentance, and renewed obedience.”
He noted that the Lenten season offers a unique opportunity for genuine repentance, forgiveness, and recommitment to lives defined by holiness, compassion, and self-discipline. The lawmaker encouraged the people of Anambra South to use the period to reconcile with God and one another, strengthen family relationships, support the vulnerable, and show love and care to those in need.
Senator Nwachukwu also prayed that, through sincere sacrifices and acts of mercy, God would grant the faithful the strength to persevere throughout Lent and emerge spiritually renewed, blessed with divine grace and favor.
The Senator’s message is expected to resonate strongly with the predominantly Christian population of Anambra South as they begin the Lenten journey in pursuit of deeper spiritual renewal and stronger communal bonds.
