Senator Kaka Shehu Lawal SAN Condemns Boko Haram’s Barbaric Attacks, Mourns Fallen Heroes in Borno
Senator Kaka Shehu Lawal SAN, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, has condemned in the strongest possible terms the recent wave of Boko Haram attacks that devastated Ngoshe, Konduga, Kukawa, and other communities in Borno State. He described the assaults as “barbaric, inhuman, and a total affront to Nigeria’s sovereignty and humanity,” mourning the tragic deaths of soldiers and civilians.
The attacks, which claimed the lives of senior military officers including Lt. Col. Iliyasu and Lt. Col. Umar Farouq, have been widely regarded as among the most brutal in recent times. Senator Lawal lamented the loss of these commanding officers, stressing that they died courageously while leading their troops in defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
“These senseless killings are acts of pure evil. Boko Haram’s barbarity has no justification, no humanity, and no place in our society. The massacre of innocent civilians and the murder of our gallant soldiers are crimes against the Nigerian people and against God,” Senator Lawal declared.
He described the killings of civilians in Ngoshe and other affected communities as “heartbreaking and intolerable,” emphasizing that the nation must rise in unity to confront and defeat terrorism. The Senator extended his deepest condolences to the Nigerian Army, bereaved families, and the people of Borno State, assuring them that their grief is shared by the entire country.
Senator Lawal reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Armed Forces, commending their resilience and sacrifice in the face of relentless insurgency. He urged Nigerians to remain resolute and united in the fight against terrorism, warning that complacency or division would only embolden the enemies of peace.
“Our troops are the shield of our nation. Their courage and sacrifice must inspire us to stand together against this evil until peace and security are fully restored in the North-East. Nigeria cannot and will not bow to terror,” he emphasized.
As Borno mourns its fallen heroes and innocent victims, Senator Lawal’s condemnation stands as both a tribute to the dead and a rallying cry for national unity, resilience, and an uncompromising determination to defeat insurgency in all its forms.
