Senator Natasha Resumes Senate Duties After Six-Month Suspension
By Iyojo Ameh
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has officially resumed her legislative duties in the Senate after completing a six-month suspension.
The lawmaker returned to plenary on Tuesday, ending a suspension that had stirred national debate and prompted legal actions.
It will be recalled that the Senate embarked on its annual recess on July 24, with an initial resumption date fixed for September 23. However, a memo signed by the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Chinedu Akubueze, later postponed plenary to October 7.
On arrival at the chamber, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan took her seat and exchanged pleasantries with some of her colleagues.
She was accompanied to the National Assembly by several civil society activists, including Bring Back Our Girls co-convener, Aisha Yesufu, who was spotted observing proceedings from the Senate gallery.
