In a bid to enforce compliance with the cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home directive, the Anambra State Government has ordered the closure of another market — the New Auto Spare Parts Association (NASPA) Market, Nkwo Nnewi — for seven days.
The market will remain shut from midnight of Monday, February 23, 2026, until Monday, March 2, 2026.

The action followed what the government described as low compliance with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s directive ending the Monday sit-at-home in the state.
The order to close the market was issued on behalf of the governor by the Special Adviser on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba. He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor; the Special Adviser on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd); and the Mayor of Nnewi, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, during an inspection of the market.
He advised traders and customers to stay away from the market until the reopening date to avoid any confrontation with law enforcement agents.
According to him, the market could face an extended shutdown if there is no significant improvement in compliance by the time it reopens next Monday.
He further noted that normal activities have resumed across Anambra on Mondays since the governor announced the cancellation of the sit-at-home order in late January 2026.
