Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially ended his four-year stay with South African club Chippa United.
The club confirmed the development on Thursday, disclosing that Nwabali requested to leave despite having signed a three-year contract extension in 2024. After reviewing the request, Chippa United agreed to release the Nigerian international.

In a statement, the club said:
“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release. We sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he displayed during his time at Chippa United. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated.”
Reacting to his departure, Nwabali posted an emotional farewell message on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his teammates, coaches, fans, and the club’s management.
He wrote in part:
“It was more than a family. To my lovely teammates, dear coaches, amazing fans, and the best chairman in the world, I leave with a heart full of gratitude and a lifetime of cherished memories. This is not just a farewell but an appreciation for every moment shared. The lessons I learned here will stay with me forever, and even though I may no longer wear the shirt, a part of me will always remain with this club. Thank you, and farewell. Until we meet again.”
Nwabali, who is 29 years old, joined Chippa United from Katsina United of the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2022. During his time with the club, he made about 70 appearances and established himself as a key figure in the squad.
