Talk To Your Mind!
Dr. Jarlath Uche Opara Jarlathuche@gmail.com
If that is the only thing you would achieve this year in your spiritual journey, you must have done much. Talk to your mind!
Talk to it to behave itself, to comport its porous environment and the voraciousness of its desire and wants.
Sit it down and draw its attention to the magnetism of its nature to things that fly up and down that make it more carnal , exposing your spirit to the abasement, embarrassement and disgrace of the grace of God in you.
Talk to it, stop avoiding it, stop pampering it, making excuses for it won’t help you. Have a discussion with it, tell it how it has out of its uncanny tastes and inordinate desires for messy things, your journey in the spiritual realm is stunted.
Imagine if there were an act to read the mind’s construction on the face, I bet you, you would at all times be covering your face in shame.
Talk to it to be sober, not getting intoxicated and excited to everything bad your eyes behold. Tell your mind to learn to blank off from alluring things, things your eyes refuse to keep a blind eyes on.
Talk to it, else it makes you a hypocrite, saying something decent and Godly while in its secrecy, its thoughts stink and ooze with foul odour.
Only God knows the level of hypocrisy our mind subjects us to daily, in the church shouting fire and Holy Ghost with our mouth while our mind travels far into the cloud of inordinate things, ruminating on nothing but dirty things, contaminating the image of God in us.
Smiling with our faces, showing our white teeth, hyping and reeling out complimentary things while the mind gets dark and clouded with hideous things.
Hey! Stop getting carried away by what the mouth says until you are sure of the disposition of the mind of the person whose mouth says it. Hypocrisy everywhere!
Don’t be carried away by the smiles, hugs and applaud from anyone until you are sure of the disposition of the mind that hugs and applauds
There is always a disconnect between the thinking of the mind and the outburst of the mouth.
Only those with an Eagle personality have a decent alignment between the content of their mind and the expression of their mouth.
I am an Eagle not a vulture! I try getting my mind aligned with the expression of my mouth. As human, I get sliped off, though sparingly.
The mind, an Instrument of warfare, so strong and indomitable if trained and cultured, but can be a poison that would destroy one if untamed.
Tame your mind, get it cultured , think nothing but things that are godly, pure, holy, decent etc and you will be fine. Phil 4: 13 “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you”, should be your daily charge syrup for a better and Christ centred mindset, the only door in achieving a balanced, decent, sincere and honest mind; miss it you become a bundle of hypocritical mien.
