Former Chief of Staff to Imo State Governor, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing that revenues from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) be paid into the Federation Account before any funds are disbursed to the company.

A statement signed by him in Abuja, describes the directive as a bold fiscal reform that will promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The statement explains that the decision addresses longstanding concerns about the management of petroleum revenues, noting that channeling NNPC earnings through the Federation Account would ensure proper scrutiny and institutional oversight.

“This move will help Nigerians clearly see how much the country earns from its oil resources. It strengthens public trust and aligns with global best practices in financial management,” he states.

It adds that the reform would curb excesses, improve revenue monitoring, and support better economic planning across the three tiers of government.

According to the statement, Nwosu urges the administration to sustain reforms aimed at strengthening governance and accountability, describing the directive as a clear sign of President Tinubu’s commitment to institutional discipline and transparency.
