Expression of Gratitude to the Yandang Nation by Owolabi Olayinka Efuwape Adenusi

My heartfelt appreciation goes to His Royal Highness, Pastor Dr. Haniel Hinlewheni Banti, DAA Kpang Sanwi 1,the Paramount Ruler of the Yandang Nation.

You are truly a blessing to humanity, and your commitment to recognising those who serve with integrity and passion is deeply inspiring.

Let me begin with this powerful biblical verse:
“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he will sit among kings.”

This scripture speaks directly to my journey. The esteemed Yandang traditional institution spanning Adamawa and Taraba States has scheduled 26th July 2025 for my coronation as Katukan Sanwi.

On this historic day, I will be honoured alongside the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, the Senator representing Taraba North, Senator Saibu Lau, his wife, and other distinguished personalities from both Adamawa and Taraba States.

As the Yoruba proverb says, “When a child knows how to wash his hands, he will dine with kings.”
Today, I am a living testimony to this timeless wisdom, the first journalist ever recognised by the revered Yandang royal institution.

This honour did not come by chance. It is the fruit of years of dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment to truth and humanity.

The Yandang people have endured numerous attacks from bandits. Years ago, over 500 lives were lost in this peaceful farming community. I was there alongside my cameraman, Musa Muhammed, amplifying their cries and telling their stories to the world.

When bandits invaded the kingdom’s headquarters and exhumed the remains of the king’s father just a day after his burial, it was TVC News, through my report, that stood as the sole national media outlet to bring this atrocity to light.

Even during an assassination attempt on the royal father, where his residence was violently attacked, I stood with the people of Yandang.

Today, I stand proud not only as a journalist but as a Yoruba man of Ijebu-Remo descent, being honoured by a Northern monarch a true testament to the unity that binds us as Nigerians.

I remain deeply grateful to Governor Agbu Kefas and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for their trust and belief in my work.

Former Speaker of Taraba State, Honourable Abel Diah Peter, you are a true hero. You brought me into the limelight, and I will forever remain grateful.

And Special thanks to the TVC News family our News Director and Editor-in-Chief, Stella Din Jacob, Director of Current Affairs, Babajide Kolade Otitoju, Bureau Chiefs Mr. Ayo and Mr. Femi, and our overall boss Victoria Ajayi. And to my loyal cameraman and brother in the field, Musa Muhammed your support has been truly invaluable.
