Two persons lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along the Sani Abacha Expressway in Wuse, Abuja.

The crash, which happened shortly after the bridge at about 1:00 a.m., involved a Mercedes Benz 4Matic GL550 with registration number RBC-95DJ and a HOWO truck tipper said to belong to Big-Dee Company in Nasarawa State.

Emergency responders reported that the Mercedes Benz collided with the rear of the truck, which was heavily loaded with fine stones, resulting in the immediate death of the driver and his sole female passenger.

Their bodies were later recovered and transported to the National Hospital mortuary.

Personnel from the Federal Emergency Management Department (FEMD), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the FCT Police Command attended to the scene, working jointly to remove the wreckage and restore the free flow of traffic.

FEMD’s Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, confirmed the incident and expressed worry over the rising number of late-night accidents within the FCT.

Authorities are advising motorists to be more vigilant, particularly when driving at night.
