University Don Commends Senator Orji Kalu for Sponsoring Over 600 Youths, Sending 20+ Abroad for Studies, Praises Focus on Human Capital Development Over Social Hangouts

A renowned academic, Professor Eni Kalu, has commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his steadfast commitment to youth empowerment through education, describing his efforts as a model of genuine human capital development.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Professor Kalu stressed that Senator Kalu’s investments in education remain one of the most effective ways to secure the future of Nigeria’s young people.

“Investment in education is the best way to secure the future,” he said. “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has shown unwavering dedication to this cause, from his days as governor of Abia State to his current role as the senator representing Abia North.”

Highlighting the senator’s track record, Professor Kalu noted that Senator Kalu has sponsored more than 20 youths from Abia to study abroad in diverse fields, including Medicine, Doctoral studies, and MBA programs. At the same time, he has provided educational support for over 600 youths currently studying within Nigeria, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement needed to excel.

“This is human capital development at its finest,” Professor Kalu remarked. “It goes far beyond organizing hangouts. Education is the foundation for sustainable growth. It is the key to addressing insecurity, poverty, youth restiveness, and other societal challenges.”

The professor also recalled Senator Kalu’s impact as governor of Abia State, particularly his introduction of free education at all levels, which gave countless students access to quality learning without financial barriers. According to him, this legacy continues to benefit families and students across the state.

“As a senator, he has not relented,” Professor Kalu added. “He has reconstructed over 150 schools, improved infrastructure for teachers and students, and distributed science and mathematics textbooks, uniforms, and school bags to ease the burden on families and ensure children are well-prepared for success.”

Professor Kalu praised the senator’s consistency, noting that his commitment to education has always been central to his public service.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has consistently placed education at the forefront of development. His contributions reflect his firm belief in education as the most powerful tool for transformation. By investing in education, he is investing in Nigeria’s future,” he said.
