Visibility Isn’t Valuability
By Dr jarlat Uche opara
You see this Farm. Hope you like how leafy and greenish it is. A maize farm. Organic and well flourishing. People would admire it with words and looks, expressing everything but value.
The farm may be visible but not valuable to them. Why? It has nothing to offer in the interim. No value, no problem to solve, just a beautiful greenish leaves, appealing to nothing else but to the eyes. If tommorow the farm is no more, it wouldn’t affect them. Life goes on.
Many of us are like this farm, flambouyant without value. Visible without impact, loud and flashy without importance.
When these crops begin to produce maize cobs, their visibility would create value and their eventual absence would be felt among those their presence imparted positively.
Just as the importance of this farm is rated based on the value it creates through the maize cobs not through the greenish leaves ,same way our importance is assessed by the value we create, not by our visibility and flambouyant presence.
Presence however flambouyant without value is as good as absence. Until ones absence is felt ,ones presence matters not. Until there is a value to ones presence, ones absence wouldn’t be noticed.
When ones absence isn’t noticed ones presence isn’t important. Stop basking in the euphoria of your visibility without impact, your absence wouldn’t be noticed if there is no value attached to your presence.
Are you a farm full of valueless flourishing leaves or one with fruits attached to the glowing greenish leaves? The absence of Buhari would only be felt by those his presence imparted positively. live your life so well that your absence would be felt positively. “Nku gbabiri ma onyi ana atu”( Presence without usefulness isn’t a good expression)
If ones absence from the group one belongs to is not noticed and felt, ones presence in the first place wasn’t valuable and important. Create value, visibility Isn’t enough!!
