Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state against anointing governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also called for absolute loyalty and support for Governor Abdullahi Sule and the party leadership, particularly regarding the decision on who will emerge as the party’s governorship flag bearer for the 2027 polls.

Dr. Jatau made the call when he received the Nasarawa State Forum of Local Government Speakers from the 13 local government areas in the state during a visit to the Assembly complex.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his passion for peace, unity and development, and urged the people of the state to continue supporting his administration.
According to the Speaker, loyalty and support for the governor and the party leadership are sacrosanct in order to achieve unity and mutual understanding as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.
“Governor Sule’s decision on who becomes the party’s flag bearer will be our collective decision. We must remain loyal to the government and the party, so we must be patient and wait for the governor’s decision,” he emphasized.
Speaker Jatau advised members of the forum not to declare support for any governorship aspirant for now, urging them to emulate the State Assembly by working in synergy with their executive arms in their respective local government areas to promote peace, unity and development across the state.
He also urged them to diligently carry out their oversight functions, ensuring that funds appropriated in the annual budget are judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people and the overall development of the state.
Earlier, Chairman of the Forum and Speaker of the Lafia Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammad Shuaibu Madaki, described Dr. Danladi Jatau as the best Speaker Nasarawa State has ever produced.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence in the Speaker, citing his commitment and outstanding performance in piloting the affairs of the Seventh Assembly.
In another development, Speaker Danladi Jatau hosted the Power Bike Riders Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State chapter, during which he stated that politics is primarily about service to the people.
During the visit, the Speaker accepted the association’s request for him to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Keffi, Karu and Kokona Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
He noted that leadership comes from God and encouraged members of the association to work hard towards his emergence in the forthcoming elections.
Dr. Jatau also thanked the association for recognising him with an award for outstanding leadership and unwavering support for community development and selfless service, promising to sustain the momentum.
Speaking earlier, the President of the association, Maiwada Sidi, said they visited the Assembly to congratulate the Speaker on his emergence as Deputy National Chairman of the APC Speakers Forum, North Central.
