2027: Nigerians Will Choose Makinde Over Tinubu — APM

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election to its candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde, saying all indications point to growing public dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration.

The party said the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, President Tinubu’s home state, was a victory for the people over the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a sign of the defeat awaiting the President in 2027.
It said the result also reinforced Makinde’s position that no political establishment is unbeatable when the people decide otherwise.
According to the APM, the booing of President Tinubu’s political associates, including APC governors, as they left Osun State demonstrated that Nigerians were tired of the APC and ready to vote out the Tinubu administration in 2027.
The party said, based on the reaction of Nigerians to APC leaders, Tinubu and the APC could struggle to command genuine support during the forthcoming campaigns. It argued that the electorate would not reward what it described as a failed and oppressive administration with another term in office.
The APM also cited the open chanting of “APM” by APC candidates and leaders at party meetings and rallies, including the recent APC rally in Oyo State where an APC governorship candidate repeatedly chanted “APM”, as a warning to President Tinubu that some members of his party may not be fully behind him.
The party maintained that Nigerians could no longer tolerate what it described as arrogance in failure, totalitarian tendencies, worsening insecurity and economic hardship under the Tinubu administration. It said citizens were yearning for an honest, transparent, humane and people-oriented leadership, which it identified with the APM and its presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde.
The APM said Nigerians were gravitating towards Makinde because of what it described as his track record of performance, practical blueprint, competence and youthful commitment to resetting Nigeria into a nation of collective dreams.
It added that, as governor of Oyo State, Makinde had demonstrated what it called an unparalleled capacity for leadership by growing the state’s economy and making it one of the most thriving in Nigeria and the sub-region. The party noted that a president of another African country had visited Oyo State to gain leadership ideas from the governor.
In contrast, the APM described the APC administration under President Tinubu as the worst in Nigeria’s history, citing economic hardship, galloping inflation, massive unemployment, infrastructural decay, a frustrated citizenry and diminishing national esteem.
The party therefore cautioned the APC against any attempt to rig the 2027 presidential election, saying any effort to subvert the will of the people would be firmly resisted by Nigerians under the platform of the APM.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APM, Abubakar Yusuf, congratulated Nigerians on what he described as the triumph of their will in the Osun State governorship election.
He said the APM would continue to lead the collective effort to redeem Nigeria from what he called the stranglehold of the APC ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
