The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State Chapter, and Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Allwell Ihunda, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu faces no political opposition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general election.

Ihunda made the declaration in Abuja while leading Rivers State local government chairmen on a solidarity visit to the official flag-off of the Tungan Madaki–Zuba road project.

He attributed his confidence to the visible infrastructural achievements of the Renewed Hope Administration and the broad-based “Rainbow Coalition” championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to him, the coalition has united political interests across Rivers State behind President Tinubu, making the 2027 presidential election a “walkover” in the state.
He also commended Wike for what he described as his remarkable transformation of the Federal Capital Territory through infrastructure development, saying the minister’s performance has made Rivers people proud.
Ihunda noted that President Tinubu showed confidence in appointing Wike as FCT Minister, adding that the minister has justified that confidence through visible projects and reforms across the nation’s capital.
“In Rivers State, the forthcoming election in 2027 is going to be a walkover. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have the Rainbow Coalition where virtually all the political parties are working together in the interest of the Federal Government and in the interest of the President,” he said.
He explained that the Rivers delegation visited Abuja to identify with Wike’s achievements, stressing that the scale and pace of infrastructural development in the FCT have set his administration apart from previous ones.
“We are here today in solidarity with our leader, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. We have come to show solidarity for what he is doing in the Federal Capital Territory.
“We are indeed very happy and proud that a son of Rivers State has decided to change the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory. If we tell ourselves the truth, this is the first time an FCT Minister is transforming the entire city in this manner.”
Ihunda further noted that the ongoing commissioning and flag-off of projects, organised to mark President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office, demonstrate the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
“Projects are being commissioned and flagged off every day. We are aware that this programme spans 31 days, and today marks the 24th day. We are proud that a son of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, is leading these landmark projects.”
Describing Wike as a visionary leader with exceptional administrative capacity, Ihunda said the minister’s performance has strengthened public confidence in both the Tinubu administration and the FCT development agenda.
He expressed optimism that the President’s achievements across the country, combined with Wike’s performance in Abuja, would translate into overwhelming electoral support in the 2027 general election.
“We have come to tell the world that we are fully in support of our son, and we are also in support of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. With what we are seeing and what has been done, it is obvious that come 2027, Rivers State and indeed Nigerians will want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return and continue his good work for another four years,” Ihunda said.
