30 Correctional Officers Promoted to Assistant Controller General

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 30 senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG).
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by Umar Abubakar, Deputy Controller and Public Relations Officer of the NCoS.
According to the statement, the promotion reflects the board’s commitment to merit-based advancement, professional excellence, and strengthening leadership within the service.Of the 30 officers promoted, 27 are general duty officers recognised for their dedication, leadership, and operational competence in various formations across the country. The remaining three officers, promoted under the professional cadre, were elevated for their outstanding service in the fields of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health.
“This promotion exercise is part of the ongoing reform agenda under the Renewed Hope initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who has shown unwavering commitment to repositioning the service for greater efficiency and professionalism,” the statement read.
The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, MFR, mni, congratulated the newly elevated officers and urged them to redouble their efforts in service delivery and strategic leadership. He noted that the promotions are both recognition of past achievements and a call to higher responsibilities, in line with global best practices in correctional management.
Nwakuche reiterated the service’s commitment to building a disciplined, motivated, and professional workforce capable of meeting the evolving challenges of correctional operations and public safety.
