Justice Olukayode Ariwoola @70 bows out as CJN

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who was the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has officially retired from active service upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1954, his retirement brought to an end his judicial career many years
Justice Ariwoola’s journey to the top of Nigeria’s judiciary started on Nov. 22, 2011, when he was appointed to the Supreme Court bench.
He later became the substantive CJN on June 27, 2022, following the abrupt resignation of his predecessor, Justice Tanko Muhammad.
His appointment was formally confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on Sept. 21, 2022.
However, as Justice Ariwoola bids farewell to the judiciary, his dedication in upholding the rule of law would be acknowledged for years to come.
