Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has stated that he does not yet know who his successor will be, despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) being flooded with over 28 governorship aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.

Sule made this known when he hosted the Forum of Former Local Government Chairmen and the Forum of Former Local Government Councillors during a solidarity visit at the Government House.

He said only an aspirant with the capacity to sustain the development strides of his administration would earn his support.

According to him, Nasarawa State possesses vast manpower, credibility, and potential, but he would only support an aspirant capable of harnessing these opportunities for the benefit of the people.

“It is possible my successor has not declared interest or even conceived the idea of succeeding me in 2027. The person who may become governor might not have started yet. But people see my sincerity and know that I love everyone. What I want is someone who can deliver and continue to move this state forward,” he said.

The governor also highlighted ongoing projects and the state’s growing investment opportunities. He disclosed that they were awaiting the president’s nod to commission the largest lithium processing plant in Africa, which, according to him, would boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and attract more investors.

“We can now move from there to Riri. Riri is going to be the next huge facility, located in Deddere. They have already started the process for its construction. Then we are looking at Amba, which will follow next. Those are the directions we are headed.

“I may not be here when all these are completed, but my prayer is that, by God’s grace, whoever takes over from me will continue to lift the state to greater heights with more opportunities,” Sule said.

On speculations regarding his preferred candidate, Governor Sule dismissed the claims as mere fabrications.

“This is why if anybody tells you I’m supporting this person or that person, it’s just grammar. At one point, they said it was Senator Wadada, then the Accountant General of the state, and at another time, Dr. Faisal Shuaib. When you see people running back and forth like this, you know there’s no truth in it — it’s all speculation,” he declared.
