Forty-nine Deputy Directors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have been elevated to the rank of Director, following their success in the Administration’s first-ever Computer-Based Promotion Examination. The promotion moves them from Grade Level 16 to 17.

The exercise, approved by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, was conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the National Open University, Duste-Alhaji Study Centre, Bwari Area Council. Results were subsequently released, marking a major milestone in the Administration’s promotion process.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, explained that the exercise was aimed at clearing the backlog of pending promotions from 2023 to 2025.

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Eze, noted that the newly promoted Directors would fill 49 out of the 63 available vacancies across various departments in the Administration.

A breakdown of the results revealed that the Education Officer Cadre topped the list with 20 promotions, followed by the Accountant Cadre with nine. Other cadres, including Civil Engineering, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medical Officers, each recorded one successful candidate.

Minister Wike had earlier mandated that the promotion process be transparent and technology-driven to curb undue influence. In line with this, the Civil Service Commission adopted the CBT system, setting a 60 percent pass mark to ensure merit-based assessment and prompt release of results.
