The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, has assured that with available funds, more roads will be constructed across FHA estates nationwide.
Ojo gave the assurance on Tuesday during the commissioning of three newly completed road projects totaling 1.
2 kilometers at the Apo-Guzape Estate in Abuja. He emphasized that road infrastructure is critical in large settlements like FHA estates, both for social considerations and for enhancing security. According to him, the poor state of the roads in the area had posed security threats to lives and property, as criminals had often used them as hideouts.
The commissioned projects include roads on 1st Avenue (645 meters), 13th Crescent (540 meters), and E Close, all within the estate. Ojo noted that the road construction, which involved blasting through rocks on hilly terrain, was particularly challenging but ultimately necessary.
While commending the staff, management, and contractors of the Authority for their teamwork, Ojo praised the contractors for delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe. He said the project demonstrated the management’s commitment to results-driven decisions and high standards of delivery.
The FHA boss also reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to prioritizing the security of lives and property on its estates nationwide, as well as improving housing delivery and staff welfare. He stressed that synergy between management, staff, and contractors would continue to drive the agency forward.
According to him, the Authority remains open to healthy competition, noting that if the private sector can thrive in housing, government institutions with enabling policies, funding, and regulatory support should be able to achieve even more.
Despite a heavy downpour, Ojo, alongside the management team and directors of FHA, proceeded with the commissioning exercise, which he described as a testament to the Authority’s resolve to deliver on its vision without compromise.
