The matriarch of the Umu Obi Obahai Royal Family of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, Delta State, died on Friday, October 23, after a lifetime dedicated to scholarship, service to humanity and the advancement of women.
She was the wife of the late Obi (Professor) Chukwuka Okonjo, the immediate past traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Her death was announced on Sunday in a statement issued by Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, Palace Secretary of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, on behalf of the royal family.
