Nigeria has congratulated the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of its National Day, pledging to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm felicitations to his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and the people of China as they marked the historic anniversary.

The statement, signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, described China’s journey of “nation-building, resilience, and innovation” as an inspiration to the global community. It noted that Nigeria and China share close relations built on mutual trust, shared aspirations, and cooperation in economic, political, and cultural spheres.

“Nigeria remains committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with China, particularly in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, investment, education, and technology, within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks including the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC),” the statement read.

The Ministry further commended China’s constructive role in promoting peace, dialogue, and global development, adding that Nigeria looks forward to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest while fostering stronger people-to-people ties.

Nigeria, the statement concluded, reaffirms its friendship and support for China and wishes its government and citizens continued peace and prosperity.
