FRSC to Upgrade Driver’s Licence and Number Plate Processing for Better Service Delivery
By our Reporter
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to introduce an enhanced, technology-driven system for the processing of driver’s licences and vehicle number plates before the end of the month.
Corps Marshal Mallam Shehu Mohammed disclosed this in Abuja while addressing staff and stakeholders during the 2025 Customer Service Week celebration.
According to him, the upgrade represents a significant step in FRSC’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery and restoring public confidence in its operations.
“I want to assure our customers that we are upscaling and upgrading the technology and system infrastructure of these two products. By the grace of God, within this month, we are launching an enhanced system to improve service delivery and efficiency,” the Corps Marshal said.
Acknowledging the frustrations faced by applicants in recent months, Mallam Mohammed tendered an unreserved apology to the public over delays and challenges encountered in obtaining driver’s licences and number plates.
“We also apologise to our team and customers for the delay and difficulty experienced over a period of time in processing and obtaining driver’s licences and number plates,” he said.
He explained that the new system would drastically reduce waiting time, ensure faster processing, and enhance data integrity. The initiative, he added, forms part of broader efforts to modernise FRSC operations through technology.
The FRSC boss commended motorists, partners, and stakeholders for their loyalty and patience, noting that their cooperation remains vital to the Corps’ achievements in promoting road safety.
“For every challenge solved, opportunity seized, and milestone recorded, it’s made possible by the trust and loyalty of our customers,” he stated.
Reaffirming FRSC’s commitment to effective legislation, policy implementation, and enforcement, Mallam Mohammed said the Corps remains dedicated to reducing road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries nationwide.
He further urged motorists and road users to continue adhering strictly to traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety on Nigerian roads.

“We want to tell our teaming motorists and road users that they should continue to abide by road traffic rules and regulations so that we have safety first, safety always, and safety forever,” he advised.
The Corps Marshal noted that customer satisfaction remains central to FRSC’s service philosophy, describing the Customer Service Week as a time to celebrate both the Corps’ workforce and the public it serves.
The Customer Service Week is observed annually to honour the commitment of service providers and appreciate customers for their loyalty and support in advancing institutional excellence.
