Lagos’ bustling nightlife took a dramatic turn in the early hours of Sunday when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raided Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, arresting popular socialite Pretty Mike and more than 100 others.
According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating drug-related activities within the club, which is owned by Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike.
The raid reportedly took place around 3 a.m. after operatives had discreetly infiltrated the venue around 11 p.m. on Saturday to monitor activities. During the operation, various banned substances were allegedly recovered from guests and the club’s storage area.
“All those arrested have been taken into custody for screening, and anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Babafemi stated.
While investigations are ongoing, the NDLEA has yet to release full details of the substances seized or the possible charges that may be brought against those involved.
