The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the killing of one of its chieftains, Alhaji Umar S-Fada, by bandits as a monumental loss.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), S-Fada was murdered by bandits in the early hours of Saturday along the Gusau–Funtua Highway while travelling from Gusau to Kaduna.

In a statement released in Gusau, the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident.

Idris noted that the deceased, who died at the age of 62, is survived by three wives and many children.

“It is with a heavy heart that the Zamfara APC chapter, under Tukur Danfulani, announces the gruesome killing of Hon. Umar S/Fada, who was shot dead early today, Saturday, by gunmen at Fegi village near Gidan Dawa in Tsafe Local Government Area while travelling from Gusau to Kaduna.

“S-Fada had participated in the state APC stakeholders’ meeting and attended the grand reception organised by the party in honour of the visiting Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, who visited the state to meet with party members, associates, friends, and relatives.

He added that following the tragic news, the visiting Minister, Dr. Matawalle, cancelled all scheduled engagements in his hometown, Maradun, to attend the funeral prayer of the late party chieftain.

Idris further said, “All APC leaders, executives, members, and supporters have already converged on Gusau to attend the funeral prayer, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Low-cost Juma’at Mosque, Gusau.

“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaus and gives his family the strength to bear this loss.”

He described the late S/Fada as a philanthropist committed to supporting the needy and less privileged.

“He will be remembered for his simplicity, hard work, honesty, and unwavering devotion to Almighty Allah.

“May Almighty Allah reward his soul with exalted paradise and accept his Shahadat,” Idris said. (NAN)
