President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the transfer of service of Mr. Rotimi Iseoluwa Oyedepo, SAN, from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Federal Civil Service, appointing him as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Federal Ministry of Justice.

A letter dated December 23, signed by Omolabake Mafe on behalf of the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, conveyed that the appointment was effected in the public interest.

Mr. Oyedepo’s appointment follows the impending retirement of the current DPP, Mr. Abubakar Babadoko, who will complete the mandatory eight-year tenure as a director on December 31, 2025.
A graduate of Law from the University of Ilorin in 2007, Mr. Oyedepo attended the Nigerian Law School in 2008. In his new role, he is expected to apply his extensive professional experience to reduce the Federal Government’s reliance on external legal counsel for major prosecutions, while promoting greater coherence and consistency in government legal strategies.
Mr. Oyedepo brings over 15 years of experience from the EFCC, where he specialised in prosecuting complex economic and financial crimes and also served as Head of the Monitoring Unit.
He was a member of the Federal Government’s legal team in the landmark arbitration case of Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Limited vs. the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In recognition of his outstanding service, Mr. Oyedepo was named EFCC Outstanding Staff of the Year in 2014 and Best Financial Crimes Prosecutor in 2019.
