Breaking: Governor Siminalayi Fubara dissolves Rivers State Executive Council
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the former cabinet members for their service to the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries with immediate effect.
The dissolution of the cabinet comes 48 hours after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, confirmed ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving the prolonged political crisis in the state.
The minister disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had met with key political stakeholders from Rivers State, including Governor Fubara and his predecessor, in a renewed effort to ease tensions stemming from the power struggle in the oil-rich state.
The closed-door meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, was attended by other leaders from Rivers State.
